After Russia invades Ukraine, everywhere in the television news channels, or newspapers are reflecting the devastated, ruined condition of people and places. Children can sense that something going wrong. They are watching the brutality of war in newspapers, television, and even sense that in the conversation of adults. It is nearly impossible to keep the children unaware of this situation. These exposers, continuous heart-wrenching news create anxiety for children. Teachers can make them learn to be hopeful and they can grow a sense of thoughtfulness among the children and young people through honest discussion and developmentally appropriate activities.
Andrew’s Labour Government launched a Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership and flagship Teaching Excellence Program – an Australian first which leads the best teachers back to the school. Minister of education, James Marlino officially opened the Academy in Melbourne Tressary Precinct on 22 March 2022. A huge amount of some 148.2 million dollars has been spent to support the teachers to develop their skills and provide an even better education for Victorian students.
A commendable and exemplary initiative has been taken in the schools of NSW by the inclusion of AUSLAN classes for students which is going to start from 2023. It will be offered to students from Kindergarten to Year 10. Auslan is a portmanteau of Australian National Sign Language which helps deaf people to communicate.
A perilous incident has taken place on 9th March, Wednesday, at a bus stop in the lane cove area, in Sydney's North Shore. A boy, 11 years old, a student of Lane Cove Primary school was allegedly attempted for abduction by an unknown person. The parents of the said boy reported this terrifying accident through Lane Cove West Primary School’s skoolbag app. Police also confirmed the news of this minacious activity. It is the boy’s witty action and intervention of another parent that stop the mishap from being conducted.
Educator, Dionne Batrice Grills, 36, was found not guilty of manslaughter in Supreme Court. The most awaited verdict has come out over the manslaughter of a little boy, aged 3, who was left on a bus and due to this, heatstroke snatched his life untimely. The incident took place 2 years before in 2020. Dionne Batrice Grills, who was in charge of the safety of the child on the bus was found not guilty. The driver who is incidentally the former centre director pleaded guilty.
It has been reported that a childcare worker in Sydney has been accused of duct-taping a boy who has disabilities. The childcare worker said she has been framed by a disgruntled manager and it is not the truth.

It has been previously reported that the Kinder factory in Belgium has been ordered to stop their chocolate manufacturing temporarily after having reports of getting children sick due to the contaminated chocolates. At least eight countries have reported various incidents of getting children sick after consumption of this particular chocolate. This is a very shocking incident as children are getting affected by the contaminated chocolates. Now, the kinder products have been recalled from retailers like Woolworth, Coles, and Kmart after noticing and getting several reports of salmonella poisoning in children due to the contamination in the chocolates.
One early childhood education and care provider which is situated near Gold Coast is being ordered to pay back workers. The amount that has been ordered to pay back is nearly almost $250,000. Not only that they have been ordered to pay near about $45,000 as a penalty for failure to comply with three Compliances Notices that has been given by the Fair Work Ombudsman whose requirement was to make the back payment of the entitlements.
The open playroom concept is to provide a more flexible approach for children to empower them to make self-decisions as much as possible. Ruth Harper, Education Lead at EastWest Childcare and Kindergarten in Fitzroy, Victoria said that sometimes the concept of an open classroom is misjudged and it keeps changing with the pedagogy. Ruth says, children are being allowed to take decisions by themselves but depending on “which equipment they engage with when they eat and rest, and who they play with. It’s all about us meeting children where they are at.”
