As of 16th August 2024, the professional development (PD) requirements for NSW accredited teachers has changed to reduce unnecessary burden on teachers maintaining their professional knowledge and practice. These changes remove the Elective and Accredited Professional Development (PD) categories, giving NSW teachers greater flexibility in completing their required 100 hours of PD.

Early childhood education and care (ECEC) providers can apply for a subsidy to help qualified staff complete training that adds to their skills. The professional development subsidy covers 1 day of training for qualified ECEC staff. 

Food Handler Basics is a free, non-accredited, online training course developed by the NSW Food Authority. The course covers the basic knowledge requirements for food handlers in Standard 3.2.2A of the Food Standards Code.

Understanding and supporting children's behaviour has been funded through the NSW Department of Education's Sector Development Program. This program will consist of six live webinars plus follow-up Q&A webinars with Dr Louise Porter and Sandi Phoenix.

The free Munch and Move eLearning program training contains videos, interactive activities and reflective practice questions which will provide you with the knowledge, skills and resources to embed healthy eating and physical activity into your service.

New National Quality Framework (NQF) professional development eLearning modules are now available from ACECQA. The online modules progressed as one of the short-term actions in the Shaping our Future: Implementation and Evaluation Plan. The program consists of a series of four eLearning modules which each cover a different aspect of the NQF. 

Participate in the FREE Playing IT Safe Community of Practice to gain the confidence to use play-based learning to teach children about the digital world.

The NSW Department Of Education has put together 16 free webinars throughout September, for all Educators to engage with the department on best practice and regulatory requirements, and to hear about updates on program and policy initiatives.

The following webinar Early Childhood Inclusion Step 1 – Observation and Planning for Inclusion, will be held on Tuesday 16 August at 7pm. In this 90-minute webinar, you will be guided through the process of taking observations that will assist you in planning for the inclusion of a child or children with disabilities or developmental delays within your early childhood service.
