As of 16th August 2024, the professional development (PD) requirements for NSW accredited teachers has changed to reduce unnecessary burden on teachers maintaining their professional knowledge and practice. These changes remove the Elective and Accredited Professional Development (PD) categories, giving NSW teachers greater flexibility in completing their required 100 hours of PD.
Early childhood education and care (ECEC) providers can apply for a subsidy to help qualified staff complete training that adds to their skills. The professional development subsidy covers 1 day of training for qualified ECEC staff.
Food Handler Basics is a free, non-accredited, online training course developed by the NSW Food Authority. The course covers the basic knowledge requirements for food handlers in Standard 3.2.2A of the Food Standards Code.

The online modules progressed as one of the short-term actions in the Shaping our Future: Implementation and Evaluation Plan.
