Vaping-Free Environment Policy

1. Purpose

To ensure our service remains a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate environment for all children, staff, families, and visitors by explicitly prohibiting the use, possession, and promotion of vaping substances and devices.

2. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All educators, staff, volunteers, students, and contractors
  • Families and visitors
  • All areas of the service premises, including outdoor spaces, vehicles, and excursions

3. Policy Statement

Our service is committed to:

  • Maintaining a vaping-free environment at all times
  • Supporting national efforts to reduce exposure to harmful substances in early childhood settings
  • Upholding the principles of the National Quality Standard (NQS), particularly Quality Area 2: Children’s Health and Safety

4. Definitions

  • Vaping substances: Any liquid or material intended for use in an electronic cigarette or vaping device, including nicotine and non-nicotine variants
  • Vaping devices: Any electronic device used to inhale vapor, including e-cigarettes, vape pens, and mods

5. Implementation Procedures

  • Prohibition: Vaping substances and devices are not permitted on service grounds or during service-related activities
  • Staff Conduct: Staff must not use or carry vaping products while on duty or in uniform
  • Family Engagement: Families will be informed of this policy upon enrolment and reminded through regular communication
  • Excursions: Vaping is prohibited during all off-site activities involving children
