1. Under Children's services modern award 2010, what is the sick pay entitlement for newly qualified certificate 3 educator?
2. Salina is a Certificate III trained educator working in the toddler room (2 – 3 years) with another educator and a team leader. Salina started work at the service three months ago, has settled in and enjoys working with the other two educators in the team.
It is 10am on a Wednesday, and Salina needs to complete the following tasks:
• add a note to the diary regarding a call from the plumber wanting to change their arrival time to mend the kitchen tap.
• change a child’s nappy as it is very wet.
• look for a child’s hat left behind the previous day.
• help Sam, another educator, set up the tables for an afternoon inside play and bring in additional resources from the pre-school storeroom.
• make paint for Thursday’s craft experience.
1. Assess and prioritise the five tasks that Salina needs to complete for the day, with the first task being the one Salina will attend to first and the fifth task being the one Salina will do last.
My answer is

Re: questions on the Assignments
1. Marlee (two) is living in foster care. The foster family has provided court documentation that states that Marlee is currently in protective care, and the family is not to contact Marlee until further investigation is conducted. One morning, Marlee’s parents arrive at the service demanding that they see their daughter. The Director clearly states that they have court orders on file that prevent the parents from contacting Marlee. The Director can smell alcohol on the breath of both parents, and therefore, requests that they leave the premises, or the police would be called upon. The parents become agitated and start to raise their voices and threaten the Director. In the meantime, the Administration staff call the police for emergency assistance.

Re: questions on the Assignments
You need to refer to self assessment/ qip to help with these questions.
In regards to communicating with others think about making information available in different languages, maybe using an interpreter for families that don't speak much English, having information available in different mediums such as email, newsletters, parent display board etc.
In regards to team roles, you can give them each a job description in order for the team to understand their roles and responsibilities. In regards to performance you can do staff appraisals, staff reports etc.
For the site visit, think about having additional staff available on hand to step on when needed. Have all staff present and available.
Hope this helps!

Re: questions on the Assignments
Dear Lorina,
Im not sure about the below question. Can you whether this is correct?
2. Refer to the Healthy Eating for Children brochure (long URL https://www.eatforhealth.gov.au/sites/d ... ochure.pdf), which are part of the Australian Dietary Guidelines, and plan an appropriate menu for one day for a group of 2–3-year-old children. Include breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a small late snack (you can assume that they will receive dinner at home which will have 1 serve of grains and 1 serve of vegetables). For each mealtime (breakfast, morning tea etc) you must include the food to be provided, which food group/s they are from, and the serving size of that food group/s.
Breakfast
1.Food: Wholegrain Cereal with milk (Corn Flakes/Rice Bubbles/Weet Bix), Fresh green apple slices
2.Serving size and food group: 2/3 cups Cereal (1 serve grain) , ½ serve of Fruits
Morning tea 1.Food: Toast bread with Cheese cream or vegemite, Milk/Water
2. Serving size and food group:1 slice bread (1 serve grain), Milk (3/4 cup) /Water (1/2 serve Milk, yogurt, cheese)
Lunch 1. Food: Beef penne pasta with buttered broccoli and cauliflower
2.Serving size and food group: 65g Beef ( 1 serve lean meat) , ½ cup cooked pasta (1 serve of grains)
½ cup broccoli and cauliflower (1 serve vegetables)
Afternoon tea 1.Food: Yogurt and vegetable sticks
2.Serving size and food group:1/2 cup yogurt (3/4 serve Yogurt), ¼ cups of vegetables (1/2 serve vegetables)
Small late snack 1.Food: Fresh red apple slices
2. Serving size and food group: ½ serve of fruits
Thanks in advance

Re: questions on the Assignments
Dear Lorina,
I need help on this question.
Read the following scenario and explain how you would support this family in terms of provision of food, and what you would do to support parental involvement while staying in line with requirements.
Lina has just begun in the nursery room at the age of nine months. Her parents have communicated that she doesn’t like food that isn’t made by them and that they have a very specific way of making the food. They puree the food and want to bring it into the service for the educators to feed.
They have been very specific in providing direction about how and when to feed Lina. They said they would like her fed at particular times and that the food should be at 20 degrees and spoon fed to her.
You check the policy and it states:
Parental/caregiver involvement in children’s care routines is important and educators must consider how they can support shared understanding of children’s care routines and accommodate their requests where it meets our guidelines and regulations.

Re: questions on the Assignments
Since Lina's parents have specific requirements for feeding they should be able to bring their food to the service for Lina to eat. In the meantime, the cook at the service can also talk to the parents about Lina's food requirements to be made at the service itself.
In regards to being fed at particular times, you can go through the routine with Lina's parents and discuss how that can be incorporated into the service routine.
As for feeding Lina, Educators can also explain the child's development at this stage and independence. Educators can assist with feeding Lina at the service.
Hope this helps!
