CHCECE023 - Observer Influencing The Interaction and Behaviour

CHCECE023 - Analyse Information to Learning

I have been asked to list some ways that an observer may influence the interaction and behaviour of the child..

My assumption is that this is around influencing the child whilst observing as opposed to influencing or behaviour management.. as the unit title is "Analyse Information to Learning"

I understand that the environment, the activity, the number of participants and the length of a session being observed will have a influence on a child.. utilising activities that the child enjoys will have a positive outcome too.. or should I be leaning more towards eye contact, positive reinforcement, mirroring positive behaviour or echoing to encourage??

I understand observations fully but this aspect has got me puzzled, probably due to my own interpretation of the question?

Any guidance, signposting or feedback would be gratefully received - thank you!

When reading this question the first thing that came to mind was as an observer how you interact with the child through encouragement, offering suggestions, guiding their behaviour, commenting on child's idea etc. As an observer, these can all influence the interaction and behaviour of the child...

Hope this helps!

Hi Lorina,

Thank you kindly for the timely response, I think we are on the same song sheet here, it gave me some consternation when the my tutor asked for a list and the original answer I compiled seemed a little brief.. I do find that normally I put a considerable amount of detail into my answers albeit the favourable feedback that has been received to date suggests that my work is 'interesting reading'

I have also included in my response around 'not over intervening' which allows for freedom to explore and creativity, building confidence when developing new territories, next steps learning etc.. balanced of course with necessary interactions that aid children who normally allow peers to take the lead or have less control during group sessions..

Sounds bizarre but I'm really enjoying my Diploma
