Management Monitoring Inclusive Practices

Post by rebeccapelsio » Fri Aug 05, 2016 3:04 pm

Hi all, I'm currently stuck on an assessment and not really sure if I'm on the right track, any help is appreciated.
The question is:
Explain how management might monitor and assess inclusive practices in an organisation?
My answer so far is:
Management may need to monitor and assess inclusive practices for a range of reasons such as, a child or children are not benefiting for current practices or an educator is not implementing inclusive practices or the service has got the ability to embrace diversity and be flexible in its approaches. To monitor and assess inclusive practices management will need to observe inclusion practices with the understanding that every child is unique and some children have challenges that impact on their development, skills, behaviour and attitudes. When assessing inclusion practices and making improvements you will need to make sure that the inclusion practices are meeting the needs of all children especially those who face the greatest barriers to achieving their right to be accepted.

That's a good response however you need to address the point in the question being "how might management monitor and assess" you mentioned observed inclusion practices but how will they do this? Will management ask educators what they are implementing, will they refer to the NQF and where the centre stands in regards to the quality areas, will they give questionnaire forms to families to ask them for their feedback... So, basically in your response above you just need to add "how" - what will they exactly do...

Hope this helps!

Okay so i have new answer:
Management may need to monitor and assess inclusive practices for a range of reasons such as, a child or children are not benefiting for current practices or an educator is not implementing inclusive practices or the service does not have the ability to embrace diversity and be flexible in its approaches. Management might monitor and assess by observing how educators are interacting with children so management can see how and if educators are implementing inclusive practices. management can then survey staff about the center's inclusive practices, what they know about the center's inclusion policy, where and how to access the center's inclusion policy and principle practices and if they fully understand what is expected. Management can also ask or give staff questionnaires on inclusion practices and how educators are implementing them and if practices are in line with the NQF quality areas. management can also ask each educator and family if the inclusion policy is easy to read and follow and on where the inclusion policy is located and to access it. After observing and reading through questionnaires management can then make improvements and make the necessary changes needed. It may take management some time to get right the inclusion policy and practices within the center to meet the needs of each child.
