HLTWHS003 - WHS Training Plan For New Employees

Post by NANDU » Wed Feb 11, 2015 12:33 pm

Someone please help me with this. I am struck in this question from two weeks. Can't think of anything. Please help!
At Blue Bay Early Learning Centre one of the key improvements sought in the Quality Improvement Plan is to improve the service WHS Induction process especially in regards to recent legislative changes. As WHS Representative you have been given the task of working with the Director to achieve this improvement.
a) What strategies and practices would you discuss when introducing the importance of WHS in the service to a new employee?

You have been asked by the Director to develop a training plan for the induction of new employees by listing the information you would provide/and or the tasks you might devise to assist the employees to develop the relevant knowledge or skills.
b) Develop a training plan including the following:
i. Timeframe for completion.
ii. WHS obligations of employer and employee
iii. List of documents (including policies, procedures and instructions) for carrying out duties in a safe manner.
iv. List of documents (including policies, procedures and instructions) for carrying out duties related to the health and safety of children.
v. Workplace requirements in relation to dress standards
vi. Workplace requirements in relation to PPE(personal protection equipment)
vii. Safe use of electrical equipment
viii. Safe use of chemicals
ix. Procedures for reporting hazards and reducing risks in the workplace
x. Emergency evacuation procedures
xi. Injury management/first aid procedures
xii. Administration of medications to children procedures
xiii. Child protection protocols
xiv. Managing workplace stress
Note: When planning the induction process you must consider the specific legislative and regulatory requirements as they relate to the health and safety of adults and children in the early childhood environment.

Please attempt to answer the question to receive support.

You just need to do research on each of the topics you need to cover in your training plan. Search Google for "WHS in early childhood". You could also search Google for each of the points mentioned. You will need to read a lot of information but you will find it, if you spend some time researching. This may also help:

I need some help here please:
Part A – Develop a Safety Induction Package.
You have been asked to develop a WHS induction package for new educators and staff members at an early childhood education and care service.
The induction package should consist of safe work procedures, including reporting procedures and a description of any relevant legislation and information on how employees can contribute to WHS.
You will find numerous examples of WHS procedures either in your workplace or the internet.
For the purpose of this assessment task, your procedures should include the following common headings:
PURPOSE: Outline the WHS purpose of the procedure
SCOPE: Who does the procedure apply to? This may include educators, staff, families and/or visitors.
RESPONSIBLE PERSONS: Depending on the procedure, this may include all employees and/or the nominated supervisor and/or health and safety officer and/or first aid officer
PROCESS STEPS: Outline the process / procedure to be undertaken
REFERENCES: For example, relevant legislation such as Work Health and Safety Act, 2011 and Work Health and Safety Regulations, 2011 and / or relevant industry codes of practice

Your package should include WHS procedures for:
• Emergencies, including evacuation
• Chemical handling and Safety Data Sheets
• Keeping workplace clean and tidy (Housekeeping)
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
