Hi,
I am after some information regarding the diploma of school age care. Would this qualification be sufficient for a diploma position in a childcare centre? Or would you have to study for a diploma in childcare to be considered for a diploma position within a childcare centre.
I'm currently studying cert III and working in an after school care. I have been offered a trainee position to Aquire my diploma in school age care after my study completion for the cert III. My end goal however is to be working within a childcare centre in a diploma position.
Thank you

The CHC50213 Diploma of School Age Education and Care course is for educators who have the responsibility for the day-to-day management of a before and after school care and/or vacation care service, including planning, implementing and managing programs which address licensing, quality rating systems and duty of care requirements. At this level educators have responsibility for supervision of other staff and volunteers.
If you would like to work in an early childhood setting from birth to 5 years you will need to complete the CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.

Re: Diploma Of School Aged Care For Early Childhood
Read through the following scenario and describe the actions the educator should take to effectively manage the situation.
Scenario: Jordan
Jordan lives with his mother, father and baby sister, Ellie (three months), who was born eight weeks premature. Ellie has difficulty feeding, suffers from colic and has not yet settled into a regular sleep pattern. Jordan’s parents, Kate and John, are finding it difficult to cope. John has begun to criticise Kate, telling her she is a ‘hopeless mother’. Kate and John have begun to argue constantly, with John becoming increasingly aggressive and abusive. Jordan tells his educator that ‘Daddy makes Mummy cry’. He says he is going to tell a policeman to take Daddy away.
