Hi,
Just a quick query that keeps popping into my head. Due to our current climate of Covid-19, are we required to get a flu shot prior to working in a Child Care setting, regardless if it is paid work or work experience (placement/volunteer)? I've not had the flu shot before.
Sorry if this question has been asked already - I'm sure I'm not the only one that has pondered over it though.

Hi Bibbi,
It depends on the child care you work/study at but yes it is almost certain they require everyone, regardless of whether they are staff, students or volunteers to get the flu vaccine every year and provide evidence as well.
This is because people who work with children and in childhood education and care are considered to be at higher risk alongside some other occupations.
In terms of COVID 19 and the flu, the current advice is that everyone should get their annual flu shot as per usual and that's what ECEC services are following.
It's just one of those things that you have to do to study/work.
If your unsure just ask to look at immunisation
policy.
Hope that answers your question.
