Develop positive and respectful relationships with children

Post by Simmi1986 » Thu May 07, 2015 4:51 pm

Hey,
Im studying my diploma in early childhood education and have come across a question that im struggling to answer.
Question: Describe some of the positive interactions that educators might initiate, to develop and maintain respectful, trust-based relationships with the children in their care.

My answer would generalise planning with the childs likes and dislikes and scaffolding from there?

If anybody has any ideas on where I could source this information that would be muchly appreciated.
Kind regards,

Simone Faxon

Yes, you're on the right track you could also include:

engaging in conversations with a child about what they are doing, showing interest in children by listening to them, playing with them in their games, providing positive encouragement "I like the colours you used in your painting", "you did a great job completing that puzzle", giving them positive body langauge for example pat on the back, high 5, etc.

Hope this helps,
