Hi,
I would really appreciate it if anybody could steer me in the right direction to find the answers to these questions. What are the child to adult ratios for a 4 -5 year old excursion and list the Victorian Regulations pertaining to excursions, including an outline of the requirements relating to transporting children.
In regards to the first question I think that that child to adult ratio is 15:1 however for safety I would call for extra staff and parent volunteers. Can anybody confirm this?
I am unsure where to look for the relevant Victorian regulations and all replies are most welcomed.
Thanks.

Unsure of the regulations in VIC, but here in QLD you can still use your normal ratio. Used to change to one to eight but apparently that has been abolished with the new regs. Now they expect a risk assessment to be undertaken, so as long as you have assessed the possible risks you can use the same ratio. However I assume in the risk assessment you would note things like high needs children, children who are likely to wander, risk from the general public ect, ect and I would most probably be asking for parent volunteers even if the ratio did not call for it.
As far as transportation goes, according to most state legislation preschoolers are required to be in a booster seat at all times with a seat belt on.
Not sure what else to say, hopefully someone else can steer you in the right direction.
