Task two-Interact effectively with children..
At fun Days Child Care centre block play in the preschool room is almost always dominated by boys. When girls approach the block area they are often discouraged by the boys who tell them block building is for boys.
The boys tend to build towers and roads and are always quite noisy. There is usually a lot of discussion about what will be built and there is a high level of co-operative play.
The carer notices that on occasions when a few girls do build with the blocks their structures tend to be very simple and the girls quickly lose interest
Suggest two specific strategies that a carer could use to promote a non-sexist attitude towards block play.
So obviously I shouldn't have a boy vs girls activity to get girls involved in the block play.. Because that is not a non-sexist attitude..
Should I split the children into groups with the same boy to girl ratio and set out building activities so they can work together?
Is that on the right track?
