Your Question?
I just got my assignment back and am so confused as they marked it wrong.

My answer was:
A situation might be a planned excursion for the children to attend, which may involve transport for the children to a venue

they included this:
The question is asking you, as a early childhood educator who works in a child care setting.
Yes you are correct written consent from parents is required when transporting children on excursions or attending an excursion. However there is one occasion when you as an early childhood educator can transport children.

Hi Lillian
I'm not sure, but maybe the occasion they are talking about is an emergency?
I hope this helps :?:

Thank you so much for your reply.

I thought that also, but there is nothing anywhere with this type of information. What type of emergency also? as if it was very serious I would call an ambulance. Would you say that was correct?

Do you have any further thoughts?
Warm Regards
Lillian

You’re welcome.
It’s a tricky question. I agree to call an ambulance in an emergency. This would cover a situation where a child can leave the centre without, the parents/guardians/the person nominated to pick the child up, present.

What about if an educator can take the child to a doctor/hospital more quickly than an ambulance? Maybe after a snake bite?
Or "transport" means to take the child somewhere maybe even in an ambulance - not in the educator's vehicle?

I don’t want to point you in the wrong direction... But this is what comes to mind...
What do you think?
