In the 17th century, modern pedagogical thinking arose, which conceived the educational play as an element that facilitates learning. In the eighteenth century, the play as a pedagogical instrument is strongly imposed among thinkers. The search for a useful and pleasant educational system became an obsession for those responsible for education, who It was mostly taught by the church.
Many authors have studied the activity of the play and have tried to explain its nature. There are several theories, each of which explains this phenomenon from various points of view.
Psychoanalytic Theory Freud: Play is considered as the means to express the needs and satisfy them.
Vygotsky and Elkonin, explain that ludic activity constitutes the motor of development, enabling the creation of zones of near development.
Piaget: established a theory of learning where children’s development are broken down into a series of stages..
