Hi,
I decided to get back into working as a childcare educator level 3
I did my certificate III in early childhood back in 2016 after I completed my certificate I worked in a few centres as a casual and did not do any observations and than I stopped working in childcare for the last 4 years and worked as a nanny instead.
I applied for childcare positions and I have been offered casual position.
I have forgotten how to do observations because it has been so long since the last time I did observations.
What is a role/ duties that a casual educator meant to do ? Does a casual educator do observations or is that only for part and full-time staff only?
Are casual educator meant to only help supervise the children.
What I am hoping for is to work as a casual and hopefully work as a part-time to full-time educator.
Should I do my level 3 certificate again or is there observations templates and what observations does the level 3 educator do compare to a diploma level?

Re: Casual position
Hi trish73,
You don't need to study the course again, just do some professional development to familiarise yourself with observations - there are lots of resources available. If you have any old books, notes etc maybe go back over the content.
Some childcare services have casuals do paperwork others don't - it can vary from place to place. With regards to your exact job description clarify that with your employer if they haven't already explained. There are examples of duties on this site.
You can always ask to have a look at the documentation and see if you can contribute a little something to build up your confidence, get some practical experience and some feedback as well especially if you plan on working permanently.
Just remember services do observations differently often on software and there is no right or wrong way.
ACECQA'S resouces are great. The information is really good and easy to understand, highly recommend.
