Hi,
I have to write learning stories/anecdotal for my assignment but always get stuck with the writing the analysis part and making it detailed could some please tell me if I'm on the right track as I really don't want to have to get a resubmit for this assignment.
Learning story
Child’s name: Sophie
Age: 2.5 years
Date: 4/3/15
Setting: Over the past few weeks the children in the room that I’m working in have been studying all things to do with the Jungle we had outside play this morning and Sophie went over to look at a tree
Observation
Sophie is stood there looking at a tree in the garden, she then walks over to the tree and touches it. Sophie appears to be feeling the texture of the tree, she then started to shake the tree with both hands and watch some of the leaves fall to the ground. Sophie bends down picks up a leaf with both hands and starts observing it and feeling the texture of it. As I sit next to Sophie observing her, I asked her what she had in her hands and she said “leaf”, waving it about with a big smile on her face. Sophie looks at the leaf for a few more seconds, drops it and then runs off to play with something else.
1Analysis:
Sophie is involved in solitary play as she explores the environment, as she walks over to the tree by herself and touches it. Sophie shows cognitive skills as she feels the texture of the tree and gross motor skills as she shakes the tree with bother her right and left hand. She also seems happy as she was waving the leaf about with a big smile on her face.

Re: Feedback on my learning story
This is a anecdotal record rather than a learning story. A learning story is much more descriptive and you will need to add more information. For using this observation as an anecdotal record it's good.
The analysis you wrote is a great start. Have you thought about adding the EYLF Learning Outcomes to the analysis? By adding the learning outcomes you can also identify Sophie's interest and learning with the outcomes she displays.
For example:
Through the observation above, it is evident that Sophie shows a growing appreciation and care for natural environment - "Sophie is stood there looking at a tree in the garden, she then walks over to the tree and touches it"(2.4.5). Sophie also explores her environment - "Sophie bends down picks up a leaf with both hands and starts observing it and feeling the texture of it"(4.2.4).
You don't necessarily have to choose the outcomes I have, it really depends on what you perceive when you took the observation...
