CHCECE017 - Importance Of Maintaining A Child's First Langauge

Post by susan1 » Tue Nov 08, 2016 12:54 pm

Why is maintaing a child's first language crucial for their learning?
Answer: Parents, family and educators have the most influence on a child's development. A proven study has shown that children taught a second language at a young age can learn it with ease, were as children taught it later have a more difficult time. When a child is learning English as a second language it does not effect there capability to learn. This allows the child to understand how other languages work so if anything learning English at a young age is more learning. Children learning English as a second language will further develop their cognitive skills. While the child is at the early childcare centre they will slowly learn more and more English while at home the parents are encouraged to talk to their child in their home language.

Can anyone help me further ?
