Overtime - Partime

Post by Beary » Mon Jan 29, 2024 2:23 pm

Hey all,

Looking for clarity on Overtime - PPT contracted for 22.5 hours 3 days a week, worked an additional shift 7.5 this week. Will this be paid at overtime rates or my normal ordinary rate ?

Hi!

It depends on what the contract states. Sometimes instead of overtime rates you are given time in lieu.

It depends on the company policy. Generally, overtime pay is available. You should check with the HR department and get the information.

Since you worked 7.5 hours of overtime this week, you should check your contract to see if there are specific provisions regarding overtime pay. If your contract is unclear, you can contact your human resources department or manager for specific answers.

I think the salary and benefits depend on your company's policy. Normally, overtime pay will be calculated at a higher rate than the regular salary.

Totally agree with this point of view. Everything is according to the contract agreement between the two parties. Everything must be really clear.

Overtime pay usually depends on each company's policy. However, according to the law, employees who work overtime will receive higher wages than those who work normal hours.

Hey! Since you're contracted for 22.5 hours, that extra 7.5-hour shift probably just brings you up to 30 hours, so it’s likely paid at your normal rate, not overtime. Usually, overtime only kicks in after full-time hours (like 37.5 or 40). Might be worth double-checking with payroll just to be sure though!

It depends on your specific employment contract and local labor laws. Generally:

If 22.5 hours per week is your contracted part-time (PPT)Connections Game schedule, and you worked an extra 7.5-hour shift, your total for the week is 30 hours.
In most cases, overtime applies when you exceed full-time hours (typically 38–40 hours per week, depending on your region).
If you're still under full-time hours, the extra shift is usually paid at your ordinary rate unless your contract or workplace agreement specifies otherwise.
It’s best to check your contract, award, or enterprise agreement for specific rules on overtime for part-time employees. If in doubt, HR or payroll should be able to clarify for you!
