Master of Education - Working In EC

Post by luckya » Tue Mar 05, 2013 1:20 pm

Hi All
I currently work in OSHC as a team leader/coordinator but would like to become a childcare worker or kinder teacher. I have a Grad. Dip in Education and a Bachelor of Arts. I'm currently studying a Master of Education. What is my best path to get to where I want to be, and on a decent-ish wage? ($16 p/h isn't going to cut it) My quals seem to be not quite right, as they are not early childhood specific. Can anyone suggest an online uni and/or course that would be good? While I am studying, can I work in childcare/kinder and what would my wage be? Thanks so much, I can't find the answers anywhere! (have tried ringing child care centres and no-one gets back to me and employment agency is hopeless)

If you have a Bachelors degree you may be able to do a bridging course that gives you the education component or something like this
http://www.flinders.edu.au/courses/undergrad/bedecba/
where you may get credit for the Arts and you just do the education part

http://handbook.curtin.edu.au/courses/31/314053.html

Maybe contact Universities to see what credit you can get and how to get the education part
