Gathering Information To Inform Practice

Post by Section61 » Thu Dec 17, 2015 9:17 pm

11. Which organisational standards, policies and procedures are relevant to the gathering of information about a child to inform practice?
a) Name the relevant standards.
Quality Area 5.1: Relationships with Children

b) Name the relevant policies.
Respectful and equitable relationships are developed and maintained with each child.

c) Name the relevant procedures.

I have no idea where to find the relevant information to answer this question. I've been stuck on this question for 2 months already, please oplease please help me.

You can also include:

1) Quality Area 6 - Collaborative partnerships with families and communities

For Relevant Policies and Procedures maybe something like:

- Communicating With Families
- Observations/ Documenting For Children
- Orientation
- Parent/ Educator Meetings

Hope this helps,

For part b. I have included Confidentiality Policy, ECA Code of Ethics, Convention of the Rights of the Child and Duty of Care as my tutor is obsessed with those and she want them to be included as well

Sorry, just to clarify and to see if i am on track,
The policies and procedures somehow are not obvious for me to follow on the NQF3. I am confused and don't know how to extract the information and not sure what they want for the answer.

For policies,
Respectful and equitable relationships are developed and maintained with each child.
Encouraged to talk with the nominated supervisor, educators and co-ordinators about the values and expectations they hold in relation to their child’s learning.
The provisions made support families during the enrolment and orientation process
How information is gathered from families to support continuity of care between home and the service.

Procedures,
Provide family services for those seeking a place where it provides easy-to-read information how the service operates and what it can provide.
Service has made some preparation to communicate with families that English is not their first language and provide easy communication.
Monitor each child’s placement
Provide ongoing support for educators, families and children

Please please please help me.

Thank you.

Policies and Procedures are documents that are used in the service which details how a certain task or procedure needs to be dealth within the service which follows the NQF. Such as excursion policy, orientation policy, sun safety policy etc. Each of these policies will list what educators must do and follow in order to carry out the task.

The points you mentioned under each policy and procedure seem more like startegies rather than policies within a centre. Here is an examples of a policy and procedure manual:

Childcare Policies and Procedures

Using this you could choose which policies and procedures will support gathering information about a child.

Hope this helps,

Hi :) I would appreciate a hint regarding this question from my assessment.

Identifying two types of information that are useful in informing a centre’s practice.
Describing why each type of information is important to collect.

Thank you for your time :)
