In fine motor skills, children develop their fine motor skills when they use their smaller muscles in the hands, fingers, and wrists. Children, who cannot express what they feel and think and how they view their world in words, may be able to do so more readily through art. STEM learning is important for children as it caters to critical thinking and problem-solving attitude. The following provides a list of fine motor, art and science activities for children that can be incorporated into the learning environment.
Make a hard egg bounce by adding it to a cup of vinegar. This is a great STEAM experiment to try with children - make different colour "egg balls" and watch how vinegar dissolves the hard shell to create a bouncy egg.
The Healthy Teeth Clip Cards are a great way for children to identify what foods are healthy and unhealthy for their teeth, These should be laminated and cut in half. Children use pegs to clip onto either healthy or unhealthy teeth depending on the food choice. This is also great to be used during group time discussion when explaining healthy teeth to children.
The Playdough Task Cards are a great way for children to use a fun, engaging, and hands-on way for children to practice important fine motor skills. They can be displayed on the playdough table for children to reference too.
In this STEAM project, children will be creating a lemon volcano. These lemon-smelling volcanoes create bubbly small eruptions which you can make in your learning environment with some easily available items in the kitchen.
We are going to make some glow-in-the-dark magic slime which the children will be able to touch and play with. This is a great STEAM experiment for children to try and also proves to be a sensory activity. Also, it encourages the fine motor skills of a child.
This interesting clay dough egg making art is perfect for making easter eggs that will stay with you forever. You can make anything out of this clay dough. Of course, you need to put in some extra effort to make this clay dough. And this can be done only when you have at least a couple of days’ time with you as the dough needs to dry for a day after giving them the shape. If you find the process of making the clay dough to be tedious, you can give white polymer clay a try.
