Following alarming reports of allegedly babies eating scraps off the floor and getting hurt while left unattended, a NSW early learning service was forced to close.
According to a NSW Civil and Administrative ruling, CCTV footage from the daycare purportedly revealed several health and safety violations. CCTV footage from the daycare allegedly showed a child climbing atop a cupboard and sliding off while unattended, according to the Department of Education. According to reports, the child slept or cried for the remainder of the day until their parents came to get them so they could get medical help.
Additionally, the department claimed that Angel's Paradise had a "general lack of hygiene," permitted kids to eat food scraps off the floor, and had staff members using their phones while they were meant to be watching over the kids. Additionally, it claimed that at least one staff member lacked early childhood education training and a Working with Children Check. The panel said there were "far too many serious alleged breaches" and upheld the company's six-month punishment on Monday.
"Refusing a stay is the best way to protect the child's health, wellbeing, and safety from the unacceptable risk," the tribunal stated. The owner intends to challenge the decision.
