I too am very thankful that I stumbled across this site, some of the info here is pure gold!
I am going to start using the daily curriculum plan but am having a problem with the drop down box for the key imputs (when i click the bar it just gets longer and then nothing happens...can anyone help me here? ha ha

when you click the input keys box the bar gets longer first and then you need to click the down arrow again (that is located on the right side) to see the list of input keys in it. Once you select them from this list the input key box resize and shows an icon of the one you've selected. It is hard to see clearly when you are zoomed out so remember to zoom in to the page. Hope this helps. I remember seeing a video demo of this before. You may be able to see a demo in the video tutorials page.

I am still having trouble with the drop down box for the learning input the only planner I can get it to work on is the OOSH curriculum. I click the drop down bar, it gets larger then when I go to click the drop arrow again it does nothing. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Hi Little Yellow,
From what you have mentioned, I think you are not clicking the drop down list for these Input keys properly. Like KatG73 mentioned above, there are 2 steps to it when you are clicking the input keys box in the curriculum Plans:
Step 1: First, when you click on this Input key box, this field becomes active and it gets highlighted when selected. When this field gets active, it also increases in width but you will not be able to view its lists contents until you do Step 2 below.
Step 2: Once you have completed the above step and the box length had increased, you now have to click on the "Down Arrow" button on the side of this field in order to view the lists in it. NOTE: If you are just clicking inside this field again, nothing will happen. You have to click on the arrow button to its right to view the lists since it is a "Drop Down List".
The reason why you did not have this issue in OOSH curriculum plan is because the OOSH version does not resize the input key box when clicked since it has enough space to accommodate its contents. So you don't need to do "step 1" for this OOSH curriculum. But for the other curriculum plan templates, if you just click it once and continue to click inside the box instead of the drop down arrow, then you will only be able to type in and you can not view the list until you select the drop down button. The solution is pretty simple...it has to do with the way you use it.

The problem seems to be the box isnt high lighting when i click it. It just gets longer and clicking the drop down arrow doesn't make a difference. When I click the L/O it high lights so I know what it is suposed to do but it just isnt.

hmmm...thats interesting and not sure why its not working for you. Can you tell me which forms you have tried? Is it the play based or learning outcomes curriculum plans? Also did you try the same on the weekly curriculum plans and other sheets (other than OOSH)?
Does anyone else have the same issue with the input key box?

1) can you try downloading these forms and open them straight from your Adobe Reader instead of using the internet browser to edit? See if it works then. Here is the info on how to download and open: http://www.aussiechildcarenetwork.com/o ... nload-pdfs
2) Also what browser are you using at the moment? Try using firefox and see if it works in that.

I tested out these forms from 3 computers and they are working fine... Have you tried out my other suggestions in my previous 2 posts...
1)Try editing these forms by downloading and opening in adobe reader straight.
2)Try the same using Firefox or a different browser.
Let me know how you go so we can figure this out.

Hey LA. Yes I tried it on my laptop and it still didn't work. I was talking to the lovely LindyT and she mentioned she had a similar prob when she was using IE (thats what I am using atm) spoke with hubby and he's going to get firefox for me (i'm useless with computers ha ha) thank you for your help I will give those ideas a try. I recently received an email the other day asking for a list of possible experiences that may fall under each of the play based learning headings that we have as part of our curriculum plans. I thought I'd share this with all of you here as it may help.
Sensory Play is supporting a child to learn by exploring using their senses. It encourages a child to manipulate items, refining their fine motor skills and co-ordination. Some experiences include:
- Play Dough (you could also add a scent such as vanilla or chocolate).
- Jelly
- Shaving Cream
- Sand
- Rice
- Noodles
- Goop
- Soapy Water
- Ice
- Water
- Pasta
- Newspaper
Exploratory Play is supporting a child to learn by finding out. The experiences listed in here enable children to experiment and closely examine things. Some experiences include:
- Cooking Experiences
- Science Experiments
- Any intentional teaching ideas you want to implement.
- Particular items of interest you want to add within the room. For e.g. world globe, magnify glasses with shells, a computer program etc.
- Gardening
- Interesting objects (aquariums, classroom pets ).
- Scales
- Microscopes
- Binoculars
Manipulative Play is supporting a child to learn by touch/feel and manipulating. It also provides opportunities for children to learn about different concepts (weight, height, size length), learn about patterning, identifying, sorting etc. and develop child’s hand and finger muscles. Some experiences include:
- Threading materials: beads, cotton reels, pasta shells etc.
- A range of activities based on matching, sorting, classification (shape, size colour etc.).
- Stacking and Nesting Cups
- Screwing activities: nuts and bolts, plastic jars with lids
- Construction Sets: Zoob, Lego, Duplo, Animal Connectors, Interlinks.
Dramatic Play is supporting a child to learn by role- taking/finding out. The experiences in here, supports a child’s self-esteem and help to develop social relationships. It also enables a child to learn about the world around them. Some experiences include:
- Kitchen Setup
- Vets
- Doctors
- Shops
- Restaurant
- Hairdressers
- Clothes Store
- Fairytales
Creative Play is supporting a child to learn by creating. It is a process of making something new from what we already know and enables children to experiment, explore, ask questions, make guesses and discuss findings. Some experiences include:
- Painting (using different mediums, textured paints).
- Music (making own instruments, dancing, making up songs).
- Clay
- Drawing
- Weaving
- Collage
- Mask Making
Hopefully this makes it easier to identify which experiences fall under each heading using play based learning,

I love all these templates and now I struggle to decide which plan works best for me. I like doing a weekly plan and have used both play based and LO. does any one else find that most things the kids do could come under at least three of the L O.? I sometimes struggle with making sure I am using the right outcome for the activity and seem to create more paper work than is necessary(like I need that). I love the new observation templates and daily reflections. thanks again LA and team

Yes, you are right! You will find that many different experiences you plan can cover more than just one learning outcome and if you are able to document them then you should.
We need to add this feature into our curriculum plans, so if necessary you can add more learning outcomes to an experience. We may be updating this feature in one of the future releases of online tools.
