Hi, can someone share some of the paperwork that is required to be done on a daily and weekly basis at your centre? Not the programming and planning side as such but the other paperwork. We have so many checklists to complete and sign each day I just want to know if it's normal. I think it's all getting too much!

Re: Daily Paperwork
It sounds like you're juggling quite a bit! It's completely normal for centres to have various checklists and paperwork to ensure everything runs smoothly and safely. Here are some common daily and weekly paperwork tasks that might be required at different centres:
Daily Paperwork:
Opening Checklist:
Ensuring the centre is safe and ready for children’s arrival.
Checking supplies, cleaning, and setting up activities.
Kitchen Checklist:
Recording temperatures of fridges and food storage.
Ensuring cleanliness and stock of food supplies.
Daily Information Forms:
Documenting nappy changes, meals, and sleep times for each child.
Recording any incidents or illnesses.
Cleaning Checklists:
Documenting the cleaning of different areas, including bathrooms and play areas.
Checking and restocking first aid supplies.
Outdoor Checklist:
Ensuring the outdoor play area is safe and equipment is in good condition.
Documenting any maintenance issues.
Hat and Sunscreen Checklist:
Ensuring all children have hats and sunscreen before going outside.
Sleep Check:
Regularly checking on sleeping children and documenting sleep times and any issues.
Closing Checklist:
Ensuring all areas are cleaned and secured before closing the centre.
Turning off appliances and ensuring all doors are locked.
Weekly Paperwork:
Staff Meetings:
Documenting minutes of staff meetings and any action items.
Maintenance Logs:
Recording any maintenance or repairs done during the week.
Inventory Check:
Ensuring all supplies are stocked and noting any items that need to be ordered.
Health and Safety Checks:
Performing and documenting thorough safety inspections.
Parental Communication:
Sending out newsletters or updates to parents about upcoming events and important information.
Miscellaneous:
Incident Reports:
Documenting any injuries or incidents that occur.
Visitor Logs:
Keeping track of any visitors to the centre, including parents, maintenance workers, and inspectors.
It's important to have systems in place to manage all this paperwork efficiently. If you feel it's becoming too much, consider discussing it with your supervisor to find ways to streamline the process or delegate tasks among the team. Remember, you're doing an essential job in ensuring the safety and well-being of the children, and that takes dedication and effort.
