Post by ldedini89 » Fri Jan 27, 2017 3:25 pm

Scenario that im lost with -
"My name is Tina. I am from the Philippines and I am 4 years old. I came to Australia six months ago with my mother and my two older brothers. My father was Australian but he died in a motorbike accident 3 months ago. We live with my paternal grandparents. I speak English and Filipino. I have 30% vision in my left eye and 80% vision in my right eye. Since arriving in Australia I have had an assessment and mobility training with Vision Australia.”
A - what imformation would you seek from Tina's mother?
(what i have so far)
Doctor management plan/ Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
Likes/dislikes
Development strengths and weaknesses
Strategies that are used at home to help Tina that can be used in the centre
B- how would you go about assessing the physical environmonet in anticipation of Tina's enrolment?
(what i have so far)
enough room between furniture to move (and that it im lost with this)
C - How would you incorporate Tina's cultural background into the program?
introducing some of the words that are used in Tina's home environment
build on knowledge of the Philippines routines, food, celebration ect and include some into the program

Yes, you're on the right track with your response!

In regards to assessing the environment, you may need to contact an external service such as Vision Australia to find out the changes in the environment to ensure Tina is accommodated for.

Hope this helps!
