First Aid Requirements

Post by sjane » Fri Aug 14, 2015 9:06 pm

Hey there,
I'm just wondering what the official current first aid requirements are.. I'm getting conflicting answers from the first aid providers and friends in the industry. The first aid providers are saying I must do the early childhood first aid course and I have friends saying a 'provide first aid' course is fine..
I currently have a provide first aid certificate and it doesn't run out for another 12 months.
I plan to begin casual work very soon!

Going through the National Regulation and it states:
Approved first aid qualification means a qualification that—

(a) includes training in the following that relates to and is appropriate to children—
(i) emergency life support and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation;
(ii) convulsions;
(iii) poisoning;
(iv) respiratory difficulties;
(v) management of severe bleeding;
(vi) injury and basic wound care;
(vii) administration of an auto-immune adrenalin device; and

I had a quick check from the info you have given and I can only find "Provide Advanced First Aid". So, just have a quick check for yourself. Go to the following link:

Qualifications Check

From Qualification Level select first aid and do the same for Qualification List. Match the code from your first aid qualification to the one on the list and your first aid qualification is valid.

Hope this helps,
