Description and Message:
1.Welcoming atmosphere – how you would create a welcoming atmosphere for families. This includes both the physical and emotional atmosphere.

2. Routine- (applicable to chosen age group but not a “timetable”) Include information about how routines and care practices are managed emphasising individual needs through negotiating with children and families, modifying routines and resources, offering alternatives and choices, compromising with regard to service requirements.

3. Provide families with relevant information to assist them with challenging stereotypes. What information would you provide parents to help them become more aware of issues of stereotyping and outline ways of challenging these.

4.How your program relates to the cultural and diverse community of children and families. We live in a diverse society- explain how does the program reflect this? Ensure you address how the service promotes inclusive practices regarding ethnicity, family culture, family type, ability.

5. Availability of family support networking including facilities available to support families – include a list of network availability both within and outside the centre.

Welcoming Atmosphere. Staff smiling, talking with parents, decor bright, natural light, not too cramped with furniture and stuff so people can move around.
Routines - pamphlet showing normal routine, snack and lunch times (duration), quiet times, outside play times, group activities ets but stress that this is flexible as this needs to be the case with young children. There may be a need to follow a child's interests or perhaps change things around for children who are tired etc...
Sterotyping - home corner is not girl play area and block corner not just for boys. have posters showing challenges to stereotypes such as women truck drivers, men as nurses etc, same for your book shelf.
Family Support -Have posters/pamphlets from local early intervention services such as community health nurses, speech and occupational therapists.
