New Room Leader wanting to gift co workers at start of year

Hi, I have this idea that I would like to give a small token to my co workers at the start of next year with thoughts of a notebook, some pens, lollies etc to firstly break the ice as I will be running the room for the first time and secondly to let them know that I am there to support them. Please give me your thoughts, I am not sure if I am doing the right thing or not? Will they appreciate the gesture or not.... Has anyone else done this before and what did you give? You could give a Diary and a pen set maybe or even a mug that they can use at work for coffee etc.

I really didn't think about the coffee mug idea, but have given thought to the diary... thanks for the ideas
