Evacuation procedure for children in OSHC

Post by Df Joe » Sat Aug 02, 2014 6:28 am

Hi everyone,

I've been asked to produce an evacuation procedure poster for our children. I'm wondering if anyone here has done this before, or know of examples or templates. Need to get this done this week, before I go I on holidays so am working on it over the weekend, but I'm not really sure what's required. I'm thinking that I will simplify our existing educator procedure to just a few short sentences and include photos of exits and a 000 call message to be used if a lone educator is sick/injured.

Any thoughts?

Joe

Hi Joe,

Using photos is probably the best way to get the message across... It's probably a good idea to take photos of the main procedures that you do with the centre and add them onto the poster. For example the first photo could be of a whistle ( if you blow a whistle to raise the alarm), next photo can be children moving towards the door, then another photo children lining up, another photo children walking to evacuation area and then all children sitting down and last photo can be a staff member on the phone calling emergency services. This is just a rough of idea of what you can do... Photos are best because everyone can understand them...

Here are some other ideas: http://worksafetysolutions.com.au/emerg ... dness.html

Hope this helps,

Thanks LA,

I have created a poster using some images - whistle, exit signs, telephone. I have tried to keep it simple and to A4 size. I'll upload it when I work out how to do that!

The link to resources was great too.

Thanks again!
