In November last year at work, a young girl put her tooth right through her lip. Myself and another staff member provided first aid. While doing this, I became nauseated looking at the girl's injury and passed out, hitting nose-first into the floor. The other staff called an ambulance for me, not knowing why I passed out (and because I was unconscious for several minutes) and concerned by the amount of blood coming from my nose that I'd broken it.
When I received the bill for the ambulance I gave it to my boss to complete. Now, months and months after it was due, she's come back to me and said the company is refusing to pay the bill. It's my understanding that their insurance should cover it because I needed the ambulance at work but they said no... what do I do? If it doesn't get sorted asap I'm gonna end up with bad credit on my name

Me Again,
Still reading through Work Cover and now onto the Workers Compensation Act 1987. It states the following:
New South Wales Consolidated Acts
WORKERS COMPENSATION ACT 1987 - SECT 9
Liability of employers for injuries received by workers-general
9 Liability of employers for injuries received by workers-general
(cf former s 7 (1) (a))
(1) A worker who has received an injury (and, in the case of the death of the worker, his or her dependants) shall receive compensation from the worker’s employer in accordance with this Act.
(2) Compensation is payable whether the injury was received by the worker at or away from the worker’s place of employment.
See the following:
http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/nsw/ ... 55/s9.html
From my understanding because you fainted while doing a working duty you should receive workers comp and I think this means that your employer should pay for the ambulance since you were injured at work.
See the following:
http://www.workcover.nsw.gov.au/formspu ... e-2013.pdf
I suggest you take this information to your employer and go through it with them. You need to be professional and extremely nice about this and just discuss what happens in your scenario according with the information you have gathered. See what they say then take it from there...
Hopefully this information is enough for you,
,
L.A

I turned out very lucky- no concussion and no broken nose, it was just very very bruised! I only had that afternoon off amd returned the next day. I had two visits to a doctor to check my nose but both were on medicare so no issue. .. just the ambulance bill that I need fixed up.
