Post by Emms06 » Sat May 30, 2020 3:59 pm

Can someone please help me answer this question. I confirmed my answer with a teacher before submitting it but another teacher has marked it wrong. I have provided my answer in bold and the teacher comments in normal.

8. List two examples of service/client contracts parents may enter into when enrolling their child into a service.
1. In the event of an emergency, illness or accident concerning my child and the teacher being unable to contact me or other persons so authorised by me, I consent to the Centre seeking out on my behalf appropriate medical, hospital, demtal treatment to be carried out or Ambulance attention for my child and accept liability for medical or dental expenses and Ambulance as may be incurred.
2. I do hereby authorise the centre manager, staff or agent of the centre for my child to take part in incursions and visits organised by this centre

Teacher comments:
This would be listed within information you have given permission for-In ypur response im needing information that relates to service hours, following service policies or understanding the process when arriving and departing the service and what you legally are required to do - please add

Ok...

One would be authorisation Of who can pick up the child - usually on the enrolment form the parent is given 3 other options of who can pick up the child other than the parent. The parent needs to Provide details of the persons and sign to authorise that these persons are allowed to.

Another would be permission for taking photographs of the child for documentation,Media, social media etc. The parent needs to authorise if they allow it.

Another contract would be understanding of policy, parent handbook etc. Parebt needs to read and understand the information given and sign off.

Hope this helps!

This is a scenario I understood the scenario and questions but not able to find the answers to the legal issues that are involved can you help

Prasan is a four-year-old boy in your service. He and his family practice Hinduism and do not eat beef for religious reasons. Today at lunch, Prasan was accidentally served a meal that contains beef mince. He takes a bite before you realize the mistake, you then replace the meal with something else.

Your colleague Loretta asks you, “Why did you even bother taking the meal away? He's already eaten some of it and it's not like he's allergic to it… You should have just let him have it! It's just a religious thing, his parents don't even have to know. I never bother with creating individual meal plans unless a kid is allergic."

Scenario One questions:
1. Identify the legal and/or ethical issues in the scenario.
2. Identify what your legal responsibilities as an ECEC educator, in dealing with this ethical/legal issue, are.
3. What are the legal risks to the service if this issue is not dealt with appropriately?
4. How would you effectively respond to this issue to make sure it was dealt with properly?
5. If you choose not to tell the parents, what policy would you be breaching?
6. How would you describe Loretta’s conduct and would you discuss it with anyone?
