CHCRF511A - Scenario: Gum Blossoms Centre - Sense Of Belonging

Post by phuongfamily » Mon Jul 09, 2012 8:35 am

I am doing a diploma course and it's about working effectively with culturally diverse clients and co workers.
I've only just started one of my booklets and I've realised that I am so behind!
They give us a scenario:

Cultural awareness
GUm Blossom Children's Centre provides care for children from diverse cultural and social backgrounds. The service reflects the cultural diversity of families by ensuring that the environment and program convey a sense of 'belonging' for all families and children.

1) Describe, in pratical terms, how Gum Blossom Children's Centre might demonstrate that it reflects the cultural diversity of families by ensuring that the environment and program convey a sense of 'belonging for all families and children.

If you can help me that would be great!
many thanks

hi one and all
can you help me with this scenario please...

you work in outside school hours care ..2 boys are fighting when the father of one the boys arrives to pick him up.. the father goes over to the boys fighting and hits the other boy on the head to stop him from fighting his son.. he then calls the assistant over and starts berating the other boy for fighting his son.. you need to call the offending boy's boys mother and let her know what has happen..

i need to write a short story on what i say and do by covering these points..

.. how you would communicate clearly and calmly all the information about the specific incident to the family.
.. allow time for the parents to react to the news of the incident.
... discuss with the family the range of possible impacts of the incident .
...you offer suggestions to the family about suitable responses to the incident ..
...you develop a strategy for the family and you service to respond to the incident and then implement it

please help me .. thanks

hey phuongfamily,

Some of the ways to make families feel welcome and have a sense of belonging is, not only by having physical things such as welcome posters of various languages and culturally diverse properties in the centre, it is also making a conscious effort to include all the culturally diverse families in the program. The centre can organize multi-cultural evenings, where the families can share stories of their culture or even their hidden talents. By allowing the parents to actively take part in the center activities, we induce a sense of belonging in them.

hope it helps... :)

hey camille... can you pl post your thoughts and possible answer for your questions, so we can look at the area that you have trouble in...

thanks and regards,
hema
