CHCCS400C - Policy Not Supported Within Legislation

Post by min74g » Sun Dec 14, 2014 1:26 pm

Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: Legislation and Policy CHCCS400C, CHCPRT001, CHCEC009.
Your Assignment Type: Standard Question
Currently Working in Childcare? Yes
Your knowledge: Basic Knowledge

Your Question?
If the policy and / or guideline did not support the legislation, what actions as an early childhood educator would you take? I am having trouble finding information for this question.

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
My thoughts would be that you would raise it with your centre director, although, I do not have any support for that idea. It is my belief that your service would not appreciate you questioning their policies as they are developed by professionals in the field. However, there must be steps to be taken otherwise the question would not be posed. No one in my centre knows where I can get this information. Thanks.

Description and Message:
Are there any recommended readings for this situation? :?: No one in my centre knows where I can get this information. Thanks.

I cant find any information either that states exactly what will happen... However, as an educator if you find a policy that does not support legislation you are required to bring in to the attention of the director. Before you do, it's a good idea to find the policy within the legislation and the exact requirements/details that the policy should cover. Bringing this information to the director to support the policy will enable the director to review the policy in line of the legislation.

Hope this helps,

Thank you for your assistance. It is exactly what my trainer told me today. She also showed me where the information is, pretty much hidden, in our companies policies. Apparently I have to answer what I would do under my companies policy and what I would do if there was no policy covering it. Thanks again.
