Years of service

Post by Lucy0922 » Fri Jun 15, 2018 3:52 pm

Hi,

I am a four year trained bachelor qualified ECE teacher. I have been offered the ECT position at a child care centre.

I have 5 years experience as an ECE teacher in a primary school. The awards states that recognition of prior service includes:

(ii) teaching experience of children from four to eight years (or in the infants department) of a school registered and/or accredited under the relevant authority in each state or territory;

The childcare centre have said my pay rate will be $26.57 which is Level 3 on the award and does not include my years of service.

Do my years of service in a school not count?

Thanks

Hi!

As a four year trained ECT, you will start on Level 3 of the pay scale of the ECT Award, since you are now as an ECT, your Award changes.

Level 3 of the ECT Award, is $27.50 per hour.

Here is some information for your reference:

In regards to recognition of prior service, that's something that you will need to negotiate with your employer.
