"Working Towards" B.Ed Degree and Pay Rates

Post by TraceyGallagher » Fri Mar 14, 2014 11:51 pm

Hi everyone! I'm currently employed as the Eductional Teacher as I am working towards my B.Ed Early Education. Is there a separate pay rate for this? I know I won't be earning a Teacher's rate until I finish the degree, so am I just paid as a Cert 3 staff member even though I am working as a Teacher?
Thanks!
Jo.

Hi Jo,

Do you mean you're working as an ECT?

If you are working as an ECT since you are currently studying your degree however still getting cert 3 wages then I think you are entitled to higher duty allowance since you are performing tasks beyond your job description as a cert 3 qualified...

You can read more info in "Higher Duties" in the following article available in our Wiki:

Childcare Wages In Australia

and you can also have a read at the following to get an idea on your job description based on your current wage level:

Levels For Childcare Wages

Hope this helps,
