Promotion Of Healthy Eating In Children

Post by seep » Fri Sep 18, 2015 11:59 am

How can you promote healthy eating in children at a service?
 Developing a whole school food policy
 Involving pupils and parents in guiding food policy and practice within the school, and enabling them to contribute to healthy eating, and acting on their feedback
 Offering healthy foods in school canteens
 Providing clean, cool-water fountains
 Assessing the food provided at the school canteen and vending machines
 Providing parents with information on healthy food choices and active living
 Developing a school vegetable garden
 Offering regular snack breaks for students to eat fruit and vegetables
 Allowing students to bring their water bottles into the classroom with them
 Providing a welcoming eating environment that encourages positive social interaction.

-How can you promote healthy eating in children at a service?
 displaying healthy foods posters and drawings
 identifying children's likes and dislikes and any nutritional needs they may have and ensuring that the menu is based on these principles
 encourage children and families to put forward suggestions for the menu and provide feedback on the current menu
 encouraging them to try different foods from different cultures
 providing children with books in the book corner on healthy foods
 ensuring that all the pretend food in the home corner is nutritious and healthy
 promoting healthy eating with the puzzles you offer children
 providing children with cooking experiences that encourage healthy eating and preparation
 placing information in the newsletter about healthy eating and recipes parents can use at home
 providing families with strategies that they can use at home to foster healthy eating
 discussing with parents the child's eating patterns, what the child ate, when they ate, what they liked and disliked, so hopefully parents can adapt the same patterns at home
----------------------------------
please suggest is my response O.K for submission?

Your response is more on par with schools rather than early childhood.

This may help:

Promoting healthy eating in children can be a really tiring task as they don;t seem to listen or understand anything that is for their own benefit. And since most healthy food is tasteless, they just hate it.

I believe the best way to promote healthy eating in children is to cook food that is both tasty and healthy.

For example you can cook a vegetable pizza that is fat-free and has lots of nutrients with a bunch of veggies, it will give them the nutrition they need for their active lifestyle.

Children need to eat a balanced diet, so cooking healthy food is the best way to give them this. Additionally, you can also opt for the following tips:

• Give them freedom to eat when they want to.
• Make mealtimes relaxed and comfortable
• Sit and eat with the children
• Encourage fussy eaters to try new foods
• Be a good role model with the foods you eat
• Teach the children about healthy eating through discussions, questions, games and activities
• Avoid buying unhealthy foods in bulk
• Promote fruits and veggies at dinner
• Stick to a strict meal and snack schedule
