Executives At Affinity Education Group Resign Following Multiple Scandals Mosaic UK

Two senior executives at Affinity Education Group—one of Australia’s largest childcare providers—have resigned following a series of disturbing incidents and mounting public scrutiny.

Chief Executive Tim Hickey and Chief Operating Officer Nishad Alani stepped down after multiple scandals emerged across Affinity’s network of over 250 centres, which care for more than 23,000 children nationwide. Their departure follows:

  • Criminal Charges: Former employee Joshua Dale Brown was charged with over 70 offences, including alleged sexual abuse of eight children and transmission of child abuse material

  • Operational Failures: Investigations revealed poor record-keeping practices, which delayed the release of Brown’s employment history to families

  • Other Incidents: Reports surfaced of children being slapped, restrained for hours, and served substandard meals in some centres

  • Staff Concerns: Employees raised alarms about a toxic workplace culture and inadequate safeguarding protocols

The board has appointed Glen Hurley, previously a senior advisor for compliance and quality, as the new CEO effective immediately. The organisation is expected to undergo internal reviews and strengthen its safeguarding measures.

Families and educators across Australia are demanding accountability and reassurance. Many are calling for systemic reform to ensure that children’s safety and well-being are never compromised in pursuit of profit.
