Food Labels and Their Definition

Post by seep » Thu Sep 17, 2015 4:19 pm

Q-complete the below table with information on food labeling.
Define the following terms
1-total fat
The total fat content of a food is the grand total of all the different fats in a single serving.
---------------------
2-serving size
The first place to start when you look at the Nutrition Facts label is the serving size and the number of servings in the package. Serving sizes are standardized to make it easier to compare similar foods; they are provided in familiar units, such as cups or pieces, followed by the metric amount, e.g., the number of grams.
---------------------------
3-ingredients
a component part or element of something.
-------------------------
4-sodium
any salt of sodium, as sodium chloride or sodium bicarbonate, present in or added to foods orbeverages as a seasoning or preservative and used in manypharmaceutical products as an antacid, anticoagulant, or other agent.
----------------------------
5-sugars
FDA defines the “sugars” category in the NFP as the total amount of naturally present and recipe sugars
------------------------------
6-Nutrition content claims
It is a claim on a food product that directly or by implication characterizes the level of a nutrient in the food (e.g., "low fat," "high in oat bran," or "contains 100 calories").
----------------------------
please suggest is it all O.K?

We have put together some nice designs for Food Labels here. I thought this might be of some help to the community. We also tried to cover some key facts about food labels that could be of some use. Thanks.
