QUESTION - ADAPTING A RECIPE for child with special food needs
Rewrite the following recipe to meet the dietary needs of a child with a dairy free diet.give a written explaanation of what dairy allery means and give appropriate substitute foods need
SULTANA SLICE-------
125 G margaring melted
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
1 cup SR flour
1 cup crushed breakfast cearal
1 cup sultanas (can be soak in 3 table spoons liquid)
1 cup of sugar
1. put all dry ingredients in bowl
2. add egg,mix well
3. combine melted butter and vanilla.sir well
4. press into greasedand lined oblong tin(18x28cm)
5. bake in to moderate oven for 20-30 minutes.
6. cut into finger while warm

The only thing really dairy based is the butter soy you can use soy butter!
Oh and in brief Lactose intolerance is the inability or insufficient ability to digest lactose, a sugar found in milk and milk products. Lactose intolerance is caused by a deficiency of the enzyme lactase, which is produced by the cells lining the small intestine. Lactase breaks down lactose into two simpler forms of sugar called glucose and galactose, which are then absorbed into the bloodstream.

You would also need to check the cereal ingredients to ensure it does not contain milk or milk by products.
