Jurassic Time: Age of Dinosaurs

Post by star-little » Tue Jun 25, 2019 5:44 pm

Dinosaurs were the largest animals to ever walk on earth. It is believed that dinosaurs lived on Earth until around 65 million years ago. They had giant fleas with beaks the size of modern syringe needles. All dinosaurs lay eggs. Eggs are usually laid in a nest. Even, around 40 kinds of dinosaur eggs have been discovered. Dinosaur has 200 bones. There were 700 different species of the dinosaurs.

Hello,

Dinosaurs were the main animals on Earth for more than 150 million years. They were lizardlike reptiles. Some of them were the largest and scariest creatures that ever walked on land. The word dinosaur comes from Greek words meaning “terrible lizard.”

There were more than 700 species and dinosaurs lived on all continents. Some dinosaurs ate lizards, turtles, eggs, or early mammals. Some hunted other dinosaurs or scavenged dead animals. Most, however, ate plants (but not grass, which hadn't evolved yet)

Some dinosaurs, like Ornithomimus and Gallimimus, did not have teeth. On the other end of the spectrum, Tyrannosaurus rex had 50 to 60 solid cone-shaped teeth as big as bananas. Hadrosaurs, or duck-billed dinosaurs, had the most teeth: up to 960 cheek teeth! Dinosaur teeth were replaceable.
all dinosaurs reproduced by laying eggs, as do most other sauropsids (reptiles). It is very difficult to determine what species of dinosaur laid the eggs that have been discovered, because only a few dinosaur embryos have been found inside the fossil eggs.

Evidence suggests an asteroid impact was the main culprit for the disappearence of them. Volcanic eruptions that caused large-scale climate change may also have been involved, together with more gradual changes to Earth's climate that happened over millions of years.

Hope this will help to introduce dinosaurs to our children

Thanks

Nandita
