Yes, play dough is extremely child-friendly! You may have to watch the little one because they could put it in their mouth to try. However, with the amount of salt added I don't think they will like the taste and quickly learn that it tastes bad! LOL!

Here is an easy recipe to make play dough - you could also add glitter, flowers, small rocks, scents etc.:

You need:

2 cups plain flour (all purpose)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
Up to 1.5 cups boiling water (adding in increments until it feels just right)
food colouring (optional)

Method:

Mix the flour, salt, cream of tartar and oil in a large mixing bowl
Add food colouring TO the boiling water then into the dry ingredients (colour optional)
Stir continuously until it becomes a sticky, combined dough
Allow it to cool down then take it out of the bowl and knead it vigorously for a couple of minutes until all of the stickiness has gone.
Add more flour if it is sticky!

You could do hand print key rings, handprint ties, mugs, etc.

Hello,

This is the recipe of play dough

2 cups plain flour.
1 cup salt.
1 tbsp oil.
1 cup cold water.
2 drops liquid food colouring – any colour of your choosing.

Play dough is very safe for children and it has a range positive effects on children.
building up strength in their tiny hands. The acts of squishing, rolling, flattening, and more help your children develop muscles used in their hands for fine motor movements useful in the future, such as holding a pencil or using scissors.
