CHCCN511A - Educators Role In Protecting Children

a1) Children in your care need protection from the sun; discuss your role in the importance of this.

One must implement a sun protection and skin care policy. This includes encouraging the children to put sunscreen on, wear hats, protective clothing and eyewear. Limiting sun exposure is also important especially during hours of the day where the UV rays are stronger; these times are from 10am-4pm. Therefore the times must be considered when planning an activity that involves outdoor areas. One’s role is to ensure that the children are following the policy and that they understand its importance. One can briefly explain to the children why they need to put sunscreen on and tell them it’s for protection against the sun’s harmful UV rays. One can also show them how to put sunscreen on, can even make it fun by drawing on the skin using sunscreen. As a childcare worker ensuring that the above are followed is important not only for protection from the sun but also for skin and eye care.

a) In detail discuss the importance of maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.

It is very important to maintain a clean and hygienic environment because it is for reducing the risk of cross infection between the children and adults in the centre and it also assist in helping the children develop hygiene habits that they will use throughout their lives.

and

What is the requirement for shade in the outdoor play space?
How many toilets and hand basins are required for every 15 children?
what requirements must be met to maintain health and hygiene of sleeping
facilities provided in the service?
what are the requirements for maintaining the safety of play equipment in the service?
How can the service ensure they are fire ready?
what are some general requirements to ensure the cleanliness and good repair of the
childcare service?
what is the name of legislation that requires employers to ensure the health,
safety and welfare at work of all employers of the employer?

could you help me pls :)

Hi Win,

Had a read through your response and you have pretty much covered everything that you need too..

I am attaching a copy of the Children's Service Regulation 2009 to help you with your final questions. You should be able to find all the info you need in this document itself.

Also, I have deleted the other topic you have created since you already ask the questions in this topic itself... I have edited the topic heading for this post. Next time, just remember to include the module number in the topic heading.

Cheers :geek:,

The outdoor play space must be adequately shaded, having regard to The Shade Handbook , published by the New South Wales Cancer Council in 2008

attaching a doc that should answer some of your queries

WinP,

I would just like to ask why are you creating three different topics for the same questions? I had already deleted a duplicate topic that you had created yesterday itself and informed you about it... and today you have created a new topic with the same question.

I had given you an attachment of the Children's Service Regulation but you can't honestly expect us to tell you exactly where to find the answer to your questions.

Also, I have already mentioned previously that when posting topic headings that you MUST include the MODULE number. Please refer to our forum rules for further information.

Next time, please do not post multiple new topics for the same question!

Once again I have deleted the new post that you had created today and merged the responses you received into this topic itself.

Cheers :geek:,
