Kelly
Kelly (Trainee) was assisting to supervise the children during outdoor play. One of the children fell while running, bumping her face and causing a nose bleed. Kelly was the first on the scene. She knelt down to comfort the child, saw the bleeding nose and tilted the child’s head up. Suma, an Educator approached and quickly summed up the situation. She told Kelly to go and wash the blood off her hands while she attended to the injured child.
Later Suma spoke to Kelly about the accident. She told Kelly that she should not have touched the child’s face without wearing disposable gloves. She reminded that the procedure for managing body fluids was to protect her from the transmission of disease. Suma regarded Kelly’s action as a serious breach of the service WHS procedures.
Kelly responded by saying she thought she only needed to wear gloves if she had a cut on her hands.
Read the scenario above, Kelly, and answer the following questions:
i. Identify who is at fault?
√ employee
0 employer
0 both employee and employer
ii. Explain how responsibilities in relation to WHS were breached:
Kelly shouldn’t touch the children face while she was bleeding because Kelly must have the glove on while dealing with blood, She break the responsibility because she should call other team member or arrange glove. Otherwise she can spread bacteria and infection all over. This is serious breach of responsibilities
Then every centre has its own policy & procedure. So when a employer recruit a trainee, Employer need to give her proper knowledge of her centre & policy paper will be available for all employee..
My assessor told me that
Q1 (A) (ii) Both employer and employee are at fault, please explain why the employer is also at fault. Please revise and resubmit.
Please address the above questions and resubmit.
So what is the correct answer
Please help me for my last attem

Re: Scenario: Kelly - Touching Blood Without Gloves
It seems like Kelly hasn't got the basic First Aid requirements so the employer needs to ensure that Kelly goes to Professional Development in first aid. Also, employer should have given Kelly the policy and procedures manual to read when she started work. Kelly should have also call for help before touching the child's nose.
