Re: CHC50908 Scenario - Partner Abusive to Mother and Boy
Hi Lizzy,
I would love to help you out... would you be able to provide details of the scenario between Jade and Adam? Our support team have completed their certificate 3 and diploma of children's services awhile ago and we understand that some of the questions/assignments have changed since then... so we would need more info with your question...If it's a long scenario just try to summarize it and add main points and details...
Thanks,

Re: CHC50908 Scenario - Partner Abusive to Mother and Boy
Hi Lizzy,
Here are my ideas of what I would do if I was faced with this situation.
- Provide her with details of a support line/help line to contact.
- Offer details on a counseling service she could contact.
- Refer her to local agencies/police encourage her to report Dan's behavior.
- Encourage her to stay with other family members (or) trusted friends.
- Contact DOCS and report the abuse that you are aware of.
- Provide opportunities for Adam to express his feelings.
- Read stories about children who are bullied and that it's not o.k (these are usually found in the library).
- Allow opportunities for Adam to let out any built up feelings through activities such as play dough, clay, etc...
- Gain his trust and see if he opens up to you about the abuse.
- May feel confusion, stress, fear, shame and think he caused the abuse to occur.
- Learn that it's ok to hurt other people.
- Learn it's ok for others to hurt them.
- Develop emotional problems (cry excessively, be withdrawn or shy).
-May become abusive themselves in adult life.
- Have difficulty making friends or have fear of adults.
- Begin to use violence to solve problems.
This should give you a few ideas on how to complete this assignment,
