programming hours

Post by hootabelle98 » Fri Jun 19, 2020 2:31 pm

Is everyone getting the same amount of programming hours as they were before covid 19. My workplace cut programming during the covid 19 and the last few weeks we have had only one hour of programming, but we are coming up to summative assessment times and just concerned that us lead educators are still running rooms, programming and summative assessments. I feel really undervalued at my workplace as the lead educators hours have been cut and i feel just the assistants will still get their hours after july 13 when the free child care stops.

What has everyone else been doing?

One hour of programming time is absolutely nothing! By the time you sit down and settle in to start writing, times up! It is a lot of work for lead educators to take everything on board with programming, assessments and more!

In the Children's Services Award 2010, it does state that a minimum of 2 hours a week programming time should be given to Educators developing/implementing a program. I understand because of COVID 19, that this may have changed but things should start getting back to normal now and you will also need your programming time.

Maybe you could talk to other lead educators as well and hear their thoughts on this - you and another lead educator could bring it up to the Director or approach it as a group duinrg a staff meeting.

it needs to be sorted.
