Child Protection Activities

I was wondering if anyone has some good resources/activities for 3-5 year olds regarding child protection.
Some how my entire file I had put together is missing.

Are you referring to activities on stranger danger and protection against child abuse?

It's actually a really good idea to incude these on the curriculum plan for preschoolers. Haven't really thought about it before because I know at school teachers do child protection with the class. It's great to teacher children at an earlier age. Because you never know what could happen...

I think the best way is to help children understand about stranger danger is through role play. For example, if someone tries to take them they should shout really loudly "I don't know you" and make lots of noise and run away. You can also teach children to blow a whistle if they ever feel unsafe. For this, the children can make a whistle key chain using colourful beads that they can keep in their bag or in their pocket.

We are not trying to scare the children however teaching them confidence so if this situation ever arises they know what to do.

I am also looking for templates (Although I find templates for children not ideal I have found in the past this opens discussions between the children and their families)

We recently had 'Ditto's Keep Safe Adventure Show' (Bravehearts) come to our kindergarten. The presenters spoke about a difficult subject in a sensitive and 'child friendly' way. Well worth the cost..

At one of my previous centres, one of the parents told us that they didnt want their child participating in any child protection discussions. They wanted to talk to their child themselves about these issues rather than us. Each time when a child protection discussion arose the child had to be moved to another room until the discsusion was finished. In my current centre we cover a child protection topic once a week on alternating days. We usually just talk and do role plays.
