Strategies For A Child That Bites

Post by Wilksy » Tue Nov 01, 2016 10:59 am

What ideas for follow-up strategies would you have when a child bites and takes things off other children. I'm stuck and I have no idea how to answer yet alone understand the question.

OK so when a child bites you need to put a stop to this behaviour. Biting is unacceptable as it hurts others and can do harm such as cause an infection of the child that had been bitten. The question is asking what would you do if a child bites, how would you prevent it from happening? You first have to work out what's causing the child to bite and once you have figured that out then you can put a stop to it. One of the reasons a child could bite is because they don't know how to express themselves when they get angry or frustrated so biting is one way to get another child to stop doing what they dont like. If this happens you need to help the child understand that biting hurts and you need to teach the biter how to use their words to express themselves.

Hope this gives you some ideas!
