Post by Shosho » Tue Jul 26, 2011 3:22 am

hi, i just needed help with this assignment,

its asking me to suggest short term strategies that can be put in place to support a child that lives in a situation where there is substance abuse...

would a short term strategy be
1. providing emotional support for the child.
2. providing the parent with community support groups..

if someone can help would be greeat
cheers.

Wondering if any info from here may help you

I would agree with your points as these children need emotional support as they maybe neglected or even abused at home... they would need to be closely monitored & if old enough given strategies to cope with living in that scenario & not to blame themselves, as children may often feel they are the cause.

hi, thank you for that.

i have few more scenarios e.g. The Child is exposed to domestic violence, The child experiences racism and prejudice, the child lives in chronic poverty...
i just don't know how to come up with short term strategies to support the child... like what could you do for a child that lives in chronic poverty?
apart from emotional support...

I think she only needs strategies for the scenario where a child is exposed to substance abuse
