Post by 27959 » Wed Mar 23, 2016 4:45 pm

Hi there,

How are IEP plans shared/communicated with family members?

- Initially during a meeting, it may be more than one meeting
- Providing a list of all participants
- Progress will be shared with the parents
- Reviewed and updated regularly and parents/participants will be notified
-

Not sure if I am on the right track,

any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Planned experience
It is vital to formulate the education plan as per the special need of the child. Strategies related to improving communication skill and social skill might go well because Zifa is a keen learner. Moreover, she has a brilliant imagination. Further, she loves to explore things and she has good long-term memory. She is having auditory processing challenge therefore slow communication skill would work effectively. She might get little hurdle in-group participation, as other kids could not follow the slow communication skill. Moreover, there would be chances that she would get angry if she would not get the first chance to speak or express herself. Imagined Evaluation [add both success and imagined challenges]. What worked Well: Zifa has started greeting her teachers and peers although sometimes the process is slow. She is responding well to the familiar voice with a smile. Her participation in the in-group activity is noticeable. Recently, she played very well in a school drama. It was not difficult to make Zifa participate in-group activity as she loves to interact and play imaginary roles. Secondly, her behaviour got improved with her sister and other people too.
What didn’t work so well [what might I do to change this?]
Reading strategy did not work well in the present case. Zifa was not involved much in the reading and puzzle-solving sessions. There might be a requirement of a different strategy. Zifa could start with arranging the wooden or plastic alphabets first followed by the formation of words. A colourful noisy book could be beneficial as stories would be in verbal format.
