Post by Misse84 » Mon Jan 28, 2013 5:23 pm

Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: CHCCN511A Establish and maintain a safe and healthy environment for children
Your Assignment Type: Standard Question
Currently Working in Childcare? Yes
Your knowledge: Advanced Knowledge

Your Question?
Develop an excursion plan for children attending a children's service.

1. A letter of notification and permission to the parents/guardians outlining the excursion event. This notice must meet the necessary legislative requirements.

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
Dear Families,

Since we have been learning about the postal system this week,we have planned an excursion to our local post office on Monday the 21st of October 2013,with the 3-5 aged group " Dolphins".

We will be taking the 333 bus from outside our service, on Watson road The bus will take us up to Bondi Post office on Bondi road, just a ten minute trip from our service.

The children will be accompanied by four qualified staff, all of whom are first aid trained.

We will be departing our service at 10.30 am,so please ensure that your child arrives no later than 10.15 am.

At the post office we will be getting a tour by the manager, who will show us where the mail is sorted and where all the parcels are kept. The children will then be able to send a pre-written letter that they wrote at the service, to their families.

The excursion will take approximately an hour. The children will have their morning tea before we depart, and each child will take their own water bottle with them.

We will be taking the 333 bus from the post office back to our service.

A first aid box will be taken with us.

Emergency contact number: Hannah 0305 485 484

Description and Message:
So this is a rough draft of the letter. We have to either go by bus, train or car.

Please let me know what you think I could change, thank you!

Hi Bubuella,

Just a few things you can add to your draft letter.

- Written consent from parent for each child attending the excursion e.g. a permission slip that can be torn off the bottom of the letter and handed back to the teacher. For example:

“I ______________ (parent) give permission for my child _____________ to attend the excursion on __________ (date) to ___________ (place). “

Signed ____________________ Date: _______________

- In your letter you will also need to include the period the child will be away from the premises, the number of children likely to attend, ratio, number of other staff members, that a risk assessment has been prepared and is available at the service (I got this from the regulations).

Hope This Helps,

Also things like hats will be needed, sunscreen etc (depending on where you are in Aust) plus if you child has a need for medication, permission to take this with you. Also, for anyone who does not give permission you may need to put something like, should you not give permission for your child to attend this excursion please note they will be placed in the __________ room for the day, or will need to remain at home for the day etc.
